Why we collect your data and the basis on which we use personal information

The personal data of the Memoriale Ltd's customers is used for user identification and access rights management, for maintaining and developing the customer relationship of registered users. We process customer data based on the customer's consent. The customer has the right to withdraw consent to the processing of their own data at any time. We use customer data for direct marketing only with the customer's consent.

The personal data provided by the customer may also be used to prevent misuse of Memoriale services or to investigate situations of misuse.

The basis for access to the deceased's information is a respectful remembrance of the deceased online.

Registered User Rights

The registered user has the right to check the information that is stored of him in Memoriale's personal data register. The registered user can check the “My Information” page what information about him is stored in the Memoriale service and the data systems connected to it. If necessary, the registered user has the right to receive a written clarification of the data stored about him / her in electronic form.

A written request for clarification should be sent to the e-mail address Tuki@memoriale.fi. The clarification request must be sent from the same email address listed in the user's login information. The right to clarification is free of charge once a year, after which we charge the customer an clarification fee. The fee is 40 euros. Memoriale reserves the right to change the amount of the fee.

The registered user has the right to:

require the correction or deletion of incorrect or outdated data or the transfer of data from one system to another.

restrict or prohibit the processing of their data in accordance with Articles 18 and 21 of the EU Data Protection Regulation.

withdraw previous consents to the processing of personal data.

lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority concerning the processing of his or her personal data.

We collect information from the users themselves. Most personal data is collected at the beginning of the customer relationship, but also during the customer relationship, e.g., information generated from the use of the service.

Access to the data is restricted to those persons employed by the registered administrator who need the data in the course of their duties. All Memoriale Ltd employees are bound by professional secrecy. Protecting the memorial environment is much more stringent than current standards. Thus, because we want to ensure security well into the future. It is also important that you, as a user of the service, take care of the security of your own devices. Please use strong passwords or other modern and secure methods to protect your devices and your login to the Memoriale environment.

The data registered on the Finnish Memorial website is stored and processed only on servers located in the territory of the European Union. This also applies if a person registered in the EU uses Memoriale services in non-EU countries that are hosted on servers located outside the EU.

To whom is the customer's personal data disclosed?

Based on the customer's consent, the registered user's first and last name and nickname information will be shared with the user who maintains the Memoriale website. Users who register on this website can share personal data, which is why it is essential that the administrator of the website knows the first and last name of each user invited to the Memoriale website.

The customer's personal data may also be disclosed to the authorities in connection with a criminal investigation.

How long do we keep your information?

Your data will be retained for as long as is necessary to maintain the customer relationship, or as long as you have consented to the storing of your personal information. The storing period of personal data varies from service to service and depends on the nature of the data.

Legislation obliges Memoriale Ltd to store certain information, such as payment transactions and invoicing-related information, for six years from the end of the financial year related to the transaction, ie. the calendar year.

Transfer of personal data outside Finland and the European Economic Area (EEA)

The first and last name of the registered user and the nickname determined by the user will be distributed to other registered administrators of Memoriale, who use the service outside Finland and also in the EEA, based on the customer's consent.

In addition to the personal data mentioned above, no other personal data will be transferred outside Finland.

The data of a user registered on a memorial site created by a person for themselves may be used for the appropriate maintenance of the memorial webpage after his or her death. In this case, the personal data of the deceased is the responsibility of the administrators / administrator of the memorial site selected by the deceased.

The data of the deceased may also be transferred outside the EU or the European Economic Area for the appropriate use of the memorial site, for example in situations where the administrator or visitor of the memorial site is outside the European Economic Area. Strong protection mechanisms suitable for the transfer of personal data are used for the transfer of personal data outside Finland and the EEA.
